Thailand Wolf Mountain
Single-Origin
Washed Process
Elevation: 1700 meters
Roast Level: Dark
Tasting Notes: Bittersweet, Chocolate, Almond
Dark(er) roast coffee fans rejoice: We’re adding this brand new offering from Thailand to our lineup. This coffee hails from the far northern reaches of Thailand in the Nan Province, just a stone’s throw away from Laos - literally, the other side of the mountain. We had a family member move to Thailand to live with his significant other (a Thai native), whose family happens to own and run a little coffee farm. So there’s a bonus: This is our first 100% direct trade coffee!
This coffee is cultivated without the use of any pesticides, and is grown alongside other farm crops such as strawberries, rice, and corn. The coffee comes from Wolf Mountain Coffee Company, as well as some of the neighboring farms run by the Lua Tribe, a minority ethnic group from Laos, many of whom have settled along the border in Thailand’s thickly forested, mountainous regions.
We roasted this dark, just a tad lighter than our Dark Roast Blend. You’ll find just a little bit of oil on the beans as they rest after roast - we didn’t want to take this too dark and lose the pleasant bittersweet chocolate (think baker’s chocolate) and almond notes that we found.
